aqua flo pump ~ trouble removing impeller

Greetings ~ I have an old aqua flo pump ~ impeller giving me a problem ~ the shaft end has a slot ~ so can't use a wrench ~ holding the impeller is the problem ~ tried using baling cord ~ maybe I need hemp cord ~ the synthetic baling cord slips ```

If you have a trick you can share ~ sure like to hear it ```

Is this the bronze pump? If so you can put a 7/8 or 3/4 inch open end wrench on the shaft extension you will see through the openings of the seal bracket
