Aphid honeydew secretions in clorine outdoor pool

I'm estimating a pint of this sweet oily substance dropped into our 25,000G pool from an alder tree in one afternoon. Like algae, it eats up chlorine, lowers the pH, creates combined chlorine, and turns the water a murky brown in a couple of days. Anybody have any experience with removing organic oily substances from pool water. I'm in Southern California so draining the pool is not an option.

Hi there VHeller, glad to have you join TFP :)

THis is a *very* unusual thing to ask here.... but in the past any time you have oils in the pool our advice is always Bleach! Bleach! and more Bleach!
(or liquid chlorine if you can get it, it has higher strength)

Chlorine will break down this substance over time.

Will this be happening again....and again??

Kill the aphids and your problem will be solved! I had a tree like this years ago. I was getting honey dew all over my house, patio and landscape plants. It was nasty. I bought a product called Bayer Tree & Shrub. It was easy to use and got rid of the aphids.
