Anyone had issues with their Ciblanc speed stirrer?

I bought the kit with the stirrer last May and I've only used it a few times. I tried to use it yesterday and the stirrer would only "shimmy." I could give the test tube a twist and sometimes it would start the "+" shaped magnet spinning. I assumed the batteries I had were bad so I replaced them with new name brand batteries. This did not change the issues. The kit has been kept indoors in a closet in my house since the last time I used it. I emailed the company but I thought I'd ask here to see if there was some trick to fixing this.

Check to be sure the stir bar is not too big for the vial. Does it happen using different vials? A light sanding of the edges may keep it from hanging up.

Rechargeable batteries will also cause this behavior. If you used rechargeable, replace the batteries with new alkaline batteries and it should work as intended.

Have helped solve this issue with several members. Always comes down to old batteries (even if they are "new" but had been sitting around a while), or rechargeable batteries. It could be your "new" batteries are old.

Apparently your family putting used batteries back in a pack with new batteries will cause this also... It really seemed like low battery power so I thought I'd check the pack again. I hadn't looked at the front of the pack, but I did this time, and it was a pack of Energizer batteries. I was getting Duracells out of it... Someone in my fam decided to just put some batteries of unknown condition in the pack with the new ones. Now, with 4 new Energizer batteries, it's working perfectly.... Is it Friday yet? lol
