Anyone familiar with the Dolphin s200 cable?

My 3 year old Dolphin is no longer powering up and I am wondering if it's the cable. I checked the power supply output with a multimeter and it seems to be working fine. Then I disassembled the cable from the robot to check if it is carrying power to the other end. The S200 cable has two pins and one of them shows 0 resistance with the multimeter testing both ends (which is good), but the other pin shows no connectivity. Does anyone know if this is indicative of a bad cable, or this is normal until power is applied? I don't see any obvious breaks in the cable, but it is now shedding small granules of the insulation so clearly getting old. Any other tests I can perform?

If its not the cable, then its very likely the sealed motor unit which I hear is almost as expensive to replace as a new robot.

Welcome to TFP

The power supply sends DC voltage to the robot so there should be 2 wires from the power supply and both should read 0 resistance... when connected to the power supply you should be receiving 29V DC power.. if not the cable is bad..

Does your cable have a swivel or not?

As Casey says above, both wires should have close to zero resistance.. If you have a swivel, then that would be the first place to start looking for the problem.

Casey, Jim - Thanks. I checked the cable again carefully and it was clearly broken in one place. I cut and spliced it and the multimeter now shows 29V at the robot end. But there's no life on the robot even after bypassing the swivel and the plug. Looks like the motor unit is also bad.

I guess we need to plan a funeral and start thinking of a new nickname for a new robot.
