Hello Everyone - I'm in the process of preparing to install a Raypak R8450 heat pump that I have on order. We are getting the heat pump as the cost to operate our propane heater is getting out of control. Currently I am planning to plumb the heat pump between my filter and existing propane heater so that we can continue using propane when needed. I have a single speed 1HP pentair pump. Someone I know mentioned that if I plumb the heat pump the way I am describing I might not maintain enough GPM flow through the propane heater for it to operate properly when we want it. Does anyone think this is going to be an issue based on what I have described? Thanks for your help.

Thanks - will look into this, I guess in my situation it would be option A - filter>HP>SWG or option B - filter>propane heater>SWG. No way to completely bypass both heaters easily that I can think of.

Pentair recommends the HP be before the gas heater...

Just takes some plumbing, diverter valves, and check valves for a heater bypass on one or both heaters.
