I have half a bottle of Phosfree left over from my pre-TFP days. I plan to clean my cartridge filter next week. I am not worried about phosphates, but wonder whether the Phosfree on my cartridges might help "polish" the water a bit.
Any benefit or harm in adding Phosfree?

Just toss it away. It’s not very potent stuff when it comes to phosphate reduction so if you don’t care about phosphates then there’s no point in putting it in your pool.
