Another...To Drain or Not to Drain

Tomorrow after everything has mixed all night u can do another cya test in the sunshine ☀️ to confirm.
Thanks. It might have been overkill, but I added 2 gallons of chlorine. I figured between the rainwater and all the new water in the pool, it would need that to get to a good level. I'll do some testing in the morning and post the results.

Here are the numbers from this morning:

FC: pretty much zero
CYA: 55-60
pH: 8.2+
CH: 450-525 (it is a purplish-blue at 450)

We have hard water because it comes from an aquifer housed in limestone. So, I think going from the 100-110 range down to 55-60 isn't bad for CYA, but the CH isn't great still. I'm addressing the pH atm by adding a gallon of muriatic acid. I added 2 gallons of LC last night and the pool wiped it out by this morning. I can add another 2 gallons of LC in 20 minutes or so, once the acid has mixed into the pool. Thoughts?

I just did another test and also included TA this time. Looks like by adding new water, plus the rain, the TA skyrocketed to 170. So, I’ll add some more acid to drop that. I’ve got 4 scuppers that I’ll leave running to help aerate the water to get the pH back up. How low is it OK to take pH to get the TA where it needs to be? In other words, should I target a pH of 7, pause let the aeration process get it back up and then add more acid? Or is it OK to add enough acid to get the TA where it needs to be and then keep the scuppers on for enough days to get the pH all the way back up?

You don't want your pH going below 7 or it can damage pool surfaces and equipment. So you'll have to drop it to 7.0-7.2, aerate up to 8.0 or so, then drop pH again.
