Another switchover question

Or two.

1. My PVC is 1.5" with my single speed pump. The CORE-55 is 2". I know I can adapt it but will it adversely affect it to much?
2. I've decided, for the time being, not to add a timer for the pump and continue to let it run 24/7 like I have for the last 8 seasons. The CORE-55 is wired for 110. So what I'm going to do is just buy a plug in timer and plug the CORE into the timer. Run the CORE enough to create enough daily chlorine and let the timer shut it off. Any issues with that?

Going larger won't matter for the width of the unit.

The outdoor timer will work but they dont last longer than a season or two, or, i wouldn't trust it to turn off after a season or two. For $20(?) I'd get a new one every year.

Its not $20, but this one is on its fourth season for me, with no signs of trouble: Blue Torrent Pool Pump Timers

Adapting up from 1.5" to 2" and back isn't going to be an issue at all. The Universal 40 I bought had adapter collars for both 2" and 1.5" but I don't think that is the case with the other units they sell. In any case what you propose is basically how I am installing my system, but I used a timer that fits into a Decora style switch cover that I already had a hole punched out from the original PB install. That, a new 15A breaker for that circuit and a new GFCI at 110V is exactly how I am going to run my unit. Literally all I need to do this weekend is set the timers, install the cell, and plug everything in. I have a plug on the controller already and switched the transformer taps to 110V in my controller already.

What you propose should work just fine.
