Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

Thanks, Kim! You and others can take a bow. It's because of your nudging that I don't have coping which looks like a bad wooden teeth job! And I hadn't realized how that would have also affected the back raised wall and the bump-out bench.

Yes, he did a super job on the ends of raised coping areas. Suz.

Just think of what it looks like in real life! As the sun moves over it I bet it will change colors. I would be sitting out there all day just looking as the pretties!

Kim

Oh Kim... you're getting to know me too well! Either the tiles change colors or the sun's movements light up different tiles - not sure which. I can't wait for the deck! Then I will be out there looking at the pretties For now, my windows have the best view, and all of our back windows are good, too. I'm having to tame down some of my excitement. I'm driving my son batty asking him to "Come and look at it!" He keeps saying, "It looks the same as it did 5 minutes ago. Grrrrr." I wonder why he says that?

That's what I would be doing too!!and drinking a margarita

Ha ha! If I do that, I'll really be seeing colors - and no telling what else!! Suz.

Thanks Amanda! I'm relieved. With me and decor/design, I have to hold my breath until I see it in place.

Tag, your it! Now I'm waiting for your next pool build stage - and especially your tile and glow-in-the-dark tile!! Those are going to be awesome!

I wish I could update with progress! This dang rain set my PB back. There are two pools ahead of me for dig and one is getting done this coming Tuesday! Means only one before me now!

We did switch to wetedge pebble finish instead of Quartz though.

I really am so jealous of your tiles! So beautiful.

ITR: Thanks for dropping by! And you're right - well about testing some water! I might pass on the fluorescent green stuff currently in my pool!

But I have my test kit and really do need to practice. Right now, it's all confusing! It's on my list for this week. Speaking of this week, Have a great one! Suz.

Yeah...looks like the current water might need a SLAM. Lol

You could always test your fill water if you are going to be using municipal water as your source. At least then you would have a good baseline and get some practice with the test. I know how hard it is to just sit there and watch the guys....[emoji352][emoji353]️[emoji353]️[emoji353]️

Pool is really coming together Suz. That glass, my word, it kicks in the sun.
Can't wait to see it with water rippling over it and the sun glinting off it.

WOW! I have missed a LOT.

The landscaper thing - ticks me off so bad! I am SO glad you are wiser than the average bear! GRRR - why do people feel the need to take advantage. Ugh. On to bigger and better things . . .

Your pool . . .

WOWZERS! The pool just looks beautiful. The tile on the spa - WOW, WOW, WOW.

Thanks so much, Wendy!!! Yes, you have missed a lot, and we've missed you! So glad you're back, and that we get to watch your pool roll on towards your 4th of July party!

I sort of ordered too much of the Peacock glass tile. Obviously, I'm not wiser than the average bear..... I have about 28sf left over. Not to worry; we will find a home for it somewhere on the pool. The tile guys will be out this week to cover the benches in the spa (my son and I just figured we need about 16sf). I think that will look good being under water a few inches; most of our glass tile is above the water line.

We will need about 8sf to cover the approx. 6" tall strip running under the waterline tile on the sun shelf. I noticed the other day that all of the glass tile shows when looking to the back of the pool. But if you're at the back, looking to the front of the pool, you see practically none of the Peacock tile. If we do that little strip at the back of the sun shelf, that takes care of that.

I had ordered 10% extra for waste - somewhere I had read that would be wise. What I didn't know is that there was very little waste. Looking back, it makes sense because of the pieces being much smaller than the large coping pieces. So if you're considering smaller mosaic tiles, you probably don't need to order nearly as much extra. But if these little tiles don't behave and pop off or crack, I'll have plenty to cover the losses.

I'm hoping to have more pictures to post this week. Then, I'm not sure what will be next.... decking or plaster? Take care, everyone! Suz.

I'm thinking the "accidental" overage is going to be perfect!!! You now have enough to do the other side. The side you didn't even realize you wanted done! Genius!

WHOA! I need about 15-20sq ft for my spa! Actually called Lightstreams today and had them send me samples of Peacock, Turquoise, and Steel Blue! Let me know if you want to part with that marvelous tile!

Spool: Wow! Let's see what happens this week. I am having to pay extra for glass tile installation - I have so much of it. First, make sure you look closely at mine. They are not the usual 2x2" squares. They are approximately 2x1.5" rectangular tiles. You might not care for that.

We will try to use as much of it as we can. You're right, it is wonderful! But you never know, something might work out.

You may not have the same difficulty I have visualizing the end result of selections. Just a suggestion: I wish I had hung the sample grids we received around the pool (gunite stage) and left them there several days. Be sure to tape them to a white background since the thinset used is white. The Peacock looks much darker installed than I expected. I love it, but somehow in my mind, it was going to have a softer and lighter look. I know this really shows my ignorance, but I was dazzled by the colors when I held them up in the light. Once installed, the tiles have a much darker and more opaque look. Why I didn't realize that is beyond me. (I keep trying to tell everyone how challenged I am when it comes to selecting design materials...)

Did you order a sample of the Shell Beach? I am crazy over those. I love the variety of colors, designs, and shapes. Each one is exquisite! If I had it to do all over again, I would order half as much of the Peacock and twice as much of the Shell Beach. Of course, it comes down to personal tastes and needs. I'm just passing on my own experience in case it's helpful.

I'm so glad you posted! Take care. Suz.
