Another in Texas - Cypress

I have the answer to this problem! It is like there is a tent all around you! We use two, one on the pool deck and one on the porch.

That lets out chemicals that effect my asthma in a bad way. Even if my neighbors use them it puts it in my air space (though fabric softener in their dryers is a lot worse for me). [emoji37]. We'll be planting all the plants outside they hate and spraying them with water before entertaining to get their fragrances in the air. Strong or synthetic chemicals are not an option.

I can see it messing with asthma for sure! :(

Yes, if you have other options, close neighbors, or children, please consider not using chemical based ones. Believe it or not there is no regulation even though most people think if you can buy it, it must be safe. That's not true and they do NOT have to disclose all ingredients because of trade secret laws. My 6 year old "developed" cough variant asthma after starting school and being around their disinfectants. My doctor says more children have it than ever and many adults are "getting" asthma after never having it as children. He says it is an environmental problem and likely from the products we use day to day. The average person inhales or absorbs through their skin 12-15 products daily. Each product can have over 100 undisclosed ingredients. It was scary when we started learning about it a few years ago. [emoji15]

That's been my biggest worry for myself and my son with the pool and spending more time outside. Every time someone on my street does laundry with fabric softener in the dryer we're forced inside because it vents outdoors. If you use it, you won't notice it. ☹️

We've been using neem oil and plants of rosemary, and peppermint for deterrence when really necessary. Works pretty well and fans are fabulous for the patio!

Somebody buried a ton of gold in your backyard and the color is leeching out from that treasure....I really think you should dig under the gunite to check...just think about what you could potentially be burying forever!!

Wow I can't believe how fast your PB is moving. That is astounding! It looks great!

Thanks Umm. It will slow down now I think. They have to get their first draw payment and they're going out of town for a week. With the rain we've been having they just really wanted to get us to the gunite stage before they left. They haven't done the gunite clean-up yet and there is rebar and nails all over my yard. I'm hoping they do that before they leave.

[emoji21] Not thrilled with the latest Tapatalk update. Can't delete from subscriptions anymore and the like button is gone. There might be other little things. Just a warning for those of you that haven't updated yet so you can decide.

With all this rain, it's the perfect time for your PB to go away for the week.
The next part can get messy with the plumbing and electrical crew. Each one digs, covers up and the next one digs and covers up. I wish I had a concrete trench for all the piping :) ok...that trench idea has not been fleshed out for pros and cons yet..
Let dig crew know that they should not be cutting away sprinkler piping. And if they do, to mark the locations (in my contract, sprinkler fixing was not part of PB scope). They had to run a water line to the opposite side of the house and the guy cut so many sprinkler lines to lay one pipe.

Eek! Good to know. Our contract says they're supposed to return it to working condition but I'll ask when the plumbing guys get here to confirm. How is yours going?

They haven't done the gunite cleanup and there are nails and rebar strewn all over the yard. She said they can't do it while it's wet but I hope they're able to before they go out of town. [emoji37]

I still need to pick toe tiles or step markers and everything I see with quality takes a minimum of 6 weeks.

Having issues with my interior guy because we're ready to start on the inside (granite in kitchen and new backsplash, fake wood floors, and new tiled shower) while PB is out of town. His communication really stinks and now I'm worried about using him. [emoji21] I need a bigger company though because of our loan type and that they have to do the work before they can get paid. Any thoughts or recommendations for a remodeler from our Houston peeps?

I've sent our contractor a text. He's wonderful, but a smaller business. Keeping my fingers crossed. This spring he re-tiled my shower and just finished a whole re-do of Nick's bathroom. It's a beach theme and Nick loves it.

Mike said for you to give him a call anytime - he'd love to visit with you!

He lives in Cypress, so he's close. He was referred to me by several buddies I used to teach with, so I had seen his work before I contacted him. His communication is great; his crews are great; he will give his suggestions and ideas if you ask; he really listened to what I thought I wanted then helped me define it better. Now, just so you know, I've never dealt with interior contractors so I can't compare him to others. But I know I won't use anyone else, because I trust him completely. For me this was the true test: I wanted some grout work redone because of color, and he was undecided if it would make enough of a difference. I thought about it a day and told him I still wanted it changed. It was redone the next day. No extra charge.

Here's a before of my old shower (I know, pretty bad.... but it was 27 years old! Lol!!:

the after:

Wow...that shower job looks top notch. Love the small square tile accent. The only issue with a shower this pretty is that you don't want to dirty it with soap scum. Kind of kills the purpose of the shower...lol

LOL!! Right, but I've gotten over it, and I try to be good about using the squeegee. Thanks for the compliment! I really love Nick's bath. I told him he now has a better bathroom than I have!!
