Another day, another SLAM

Today's readings were all over 13.0 FC, 0.0 - 0.5 CC. Pool is looking sparkly and clear. Still dead algae on the bottom of the pool, which will be swept and vac'ed tomorrow, along with getting the new skimmer installed.

Wondering if I'll pass OCLT tomorrow...

Sorry for the lapse in updates! To catch up, I didn't pass OCLT, CC was 1.5. So the SLAM continues.

Over the weekend I realized I really should get the PVC pipes my husband used to build a platform under the steps out of the pool. We were going to put the weights on them, but they just rolled off. I had forgotten about them completely, then while standing around waiting for my son to get the silicone caulk for the new skimmer, I happened to stare at the steps and thought. "You know, I should get those pipes out. I bet they're full of algae."

My son got them out, and sure enough, they were full of algae. Dead, live, half dead, making TONS of poofage in the pool! It was a sight. A horrible, horrible sight.:poop:

So essentially SLAM has started all over. What fun. But then, if I weren't such an idiot this wouldn't have happened.

But then again, if it weren't for TFP teaching me what to do, I'd be in a real mess.

FC staying up around 13 today so far. Water is gin clear. CC 0.5. Moved the steps and swept and brushed behind them, big ol' pile of stuff back there, mostly leaves and such. Vacuumed somewhat successfully with new suction setup that came with the new skimmer. Not much else to do today but hope my FC holds overnight. And wish I had a suction side pool cleaner, specifically a Polaris 360.

They're great! They lose some oomph when they get in the shade, but in the sunlight they produce fountains up to 18" tall. I think they actually do help with cooling off the pool. Be sure to get this type:

It has a better solar grid and tolerates cloudy days better. I have two different brands, and the Viajero brand works way better.

How annoying!!! Could algae be back? I went out to hang some CYA today and I see more dead algae on the floor of the pool! I had let the chlorine start to drift down, but tonight I'm having hubby bring it back up to 16. Will this SLAM never end???!?!!!
