Am I supposed to shock pool every week?

Stupid question, how often should I be shocking my pool?
I haven't as my FC is usually within range and my CC is always 0 or .5.
Maybe I am not doing something I am supposed to.

If you keep your FC in proper range based on the FC/CYA Levels there is no need to “shock”. That is pool store terminology.
You add sufficient LC daily to replace you FC you lose. By maintaining a proper FC within the target ranges you may never need to shock.

'Shocking' is a pool store practice. It is to make up for not properly maintaining FC levels. Since you follow the FC/CYA Levels and do not allow your FC to fall below minimum for your CYA, 'shock' is unnecessary.
