Am I at risk of an algae problem from topsoil runoff - muddy pool

Pool store would have had me $500 in the hole by now and probably still dirty pool.
Worse. A dirty pool with a sky high CYA (from all the shock) that you had no choice but to drain. *After* spending hundreds.

Then spending even more to rebalance. 🤦‍♂️

You're running hot for the party, right ? Unless it's a blowout party I go for half slam (14 FC for 70 CYA) and leave the SWG on at 100% for the party

(Blowout party is full slam)

CYA sits at 80.

At least 20 people... Only low 80 degress and chance rain. FC down to 13 (0 CC) and SWG at 25%. Was planning on bumping to 100% for today and drop down after testing tomorrow morning. Thanks for the confirmation.

If they're all going to swim, or even most of them, that's approaching a hot tub ratio of gallons per person. :puker:

Your call how high you'd like to go with 32 FC being safe for an 80 CYA, 20 is probably a reasonable compromise.

Thank you everyone for your feedback, comments, and suggestions.

Cleared a mud pool in 5 days with daily testing, some diligent cleaning of filter, methodical vacuuming, running pool robot, patience, and only chemical was 1 gallon of chlorine (and bottle of SeaKlear never opened).

I learned some new things (25% change psi and not 10psi) and tricks (filter water sample thru coffee filter). Pool store would have had me $500 in the hole by now and probably still dirty pool.

Now to have it get dirty from a social event today... 😂

FC early evening was down to 8.5 from 13. I wanted to double the FC since it was still a long night. PoolMath suggested 116oz... I just added gallon.

Solar cover on all night. FC this morning at 17 with 0 CC (despite having multitude of drunks in pool and guarantee paid no attention to my "no peeing in pool" sign... 😂). Have some stragglers passed out in basement and anticipate more activity today.

I think everything's in a good place and will call this whole episode a great success with phenomenal collaboration. And the only money wasted (if want to call it as such) is $20 bottle SeaKlear.

Return the seaklear...
I wonder if he should wait to ensure the landscaping modifications are truly successful? The next big deluge will be the only way to know.
Not a terrible item to have in your back pocket “in case”. Not sure of the expiration of such a product.
