Aluminum Coping Pitting

Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. My pool is 7 years old and my pool coping (aluminum) is severely pitted in spots to the point it is completed rotted thru. The majority of the problem is at the deep end of the pool, above the light. This is also where I roll up the pool cover daily and let the water drip. I have a salt chlorine generator. There are only a few other severely corroded spots on the on the sides or other end of the pool. You can see in the pictures the damage; this is where I have scraped out the damaged/pitted areas in the coping. You can also see where the concrete has been damaged as well (some pull away and salt damage I assume).

What can be causing the pitting damage? Pool was bonded when built. Could failed or incorrect bonding cause this?

What is the best way to fix the damage now? Was thinking of sanding, bondo in holes, sanding again, and painting with flat enamel spray paint.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks
