My plumbing has a Pentair 320 chlorinator (https://www.amazon.com/Pentair-R171096-Rainbow-Automatic-Chlorine/dp/B001DO0QKQ)

Needless to say, after finding TFP and firing the pool guy that the previous home owners used, I will not be using tabs in the chlorinator. The CYA on my first test last fall was >120. I drained a bunch of water over the winter in order to fix a leaky light niche, so the CYA is in target now.

I've been pondering the usefulness of the chlorinator. I have been thinking that it could be a handy way to dispense a certain amount of liquid bleach each day. Figure out how much I need per day, then add a something to the chlorinator to allow only that much liquid to go in. When the pump is on, the bleach should get blowed out into the pool.

Any other clever ideas?

If your not happy with the system that you have why dont you upgrade to something abit more automated?

There are chemical Pumps on the market that inject liquid chlorine and acid into the pool as required.

some are just a manual dial and some have probes that automatically detect PH and ORP levels and dose as required.

Salt Water Chlorinators have their advantages and disadvantages, im not sure about the US market but where i live we have Salt Water Systems now with Probes that keep the pool balanced perfectly all year.

We generally have found that ORP sensors are not accurate or reliable enough ... if only there was a reasonably prices alternative that measure the FC directly :D
