Already Ordered Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus... advice needed

Good morning! Just hoping for some opinions from people that know more about this stuff than I do. I currently have a horrible SmartPool Climber that my pool installer included with my build 5 years ago. It's just terrible. I opened the pool on Sunday and on an impulse bought a Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus on Amazon for $779 before doing much research. Bought it only based on the reviews. I'm still waiting for it to ship and have been battling with Amazon to cancel the order without much luck.

After digging into some of the reviews it seems likely that if it breaks, there's not much support and the warranty service isn't great. That's one of the main reasons I've been trying to cancel the order. I called my local Leslie's pool and they are running a sale this weekend. I can pick up a Polaris P825 with a caddy for $799 with some big sale they've got going on. My big draw to the Polaris is that they do the service and warranty work in house here rather than ship it out for repair.

So my question is, do I continue to fight for a return on the Dolphin and pick up the Polaris this weekend or just allow Amazon to ship the Dolphin and keep it. Is there as much reliability risk in the Dolphin as I fear? Which cleaner is better?

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend return ir and get dolphin s200 or warrior se from marina pool for $699. Or call your local pool store they may have dolphin active 20 for $629 including a $50 rebate. All these cleaners brush waterline which cc plus does not clean waterline. Dolphin s200/warrior se/active 20 are same model and parts are interchangeable.
See The Truth About Pool Cleaners: What Your Pool Store Isn’t Telling You for model equivalent

  • Dolphin Active 20 = Dolphin S200 = Dolphin Cayman = Dolphin Nautilus (2017 and Later) = Pentair Prowler 920 = Dolphin Proteus DX3 = Doheny's Saturn = T35

Thanks, the water line really isn't a big deal to me. It doesn't seem to get very dirty and I can run around and brush the vinyl in about 3 minutes if I need to. I do get a bunch of leaves and fine dirt on the bottom and in the corners, that would be a much bigger concern for me.

I believe that Amazon sold this through a third party seller and they are going to try to fight me for a restocking fee. That's why I'm asking if it's worth fighting that or just keeping it. I hate my current cleaner so much that I really wasn't paying much attention when I purchased this last Sunday. I always check the Prime box but I think it's being sold by a third party.

I 2nd the warrior for $699.
If you are home when they deliver you can refuse the shipment and it will be returned to the seller.
I had a similar thing happen with filters and even after it was delivered amazon told me to take it to UPS store and tell them I refused shipment.

When you refused shipment did you have any issues with getting your full refund? The seller's page says subject to a 20% restocking fee and return shipping costs. I'm not interested in refusing to the tune of $300 bucks to save $70 right?!? That's my big hang up right now. I've had two chats with Amazon reps that told me that I wouldn't have to pay that charge but they won't put that in writing. Won't email copies of chat transcripts and when they say they will email me they never do. I did copy and paste the entire chat last time as proof but don't know how far that will get me.

They gave me a full refund..My experience with Amazon is they go above and beyond..Short story I bought a $400 brake kit for my car and one set of pads was wrong..Emailed seller 3 times to correct and never replied..Got amazon involved and at first they said ship it back and when I explained the rotors and front pads were on the car he issued a full refund..I felt bad and offered to pay but he said NOPE, the seller should have replied after a week.
If you have screen shots of that you should be good..Worse case get credit card involved :)

Ugh, it just shipped and they are sending it USPS. I still don't understand why I couldn't cancel the order between Sunday and now when they hadn't shipped it. USPS has a "package intercept" process that I can refuse the shipping but this doesn't qualify their site says.

Let's say I don't feel like dealing with the hassle, is the Nautilus CC Plus a bad cleaner? If the S200/Warrior is the same as the Nautilus can I expect the same level of durability? Will I be happy with it coming from this terrible SmartPool cleaner I have now? Can I take it to a local Dolphin retailer for warranty work even if I didn't buy from them?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to decide if I feel like dealing with the hassles now or later if it breaks. Appreciate it!

It looks like the same cleaner to me, yea worse case is you just paid a little more then you would have liked to but considering everything might not be worth the hassle.
You may have a better chance of getting the rebate, some people said Pentair denied their claim

FWIW, back in 2016, when we first moved to our house with the pool, I bought a Nautilus Plus (before CC) after much research. The S200 either came out soon afterwards (or I learned about it soon afterwards), similar to you, while my Nautilus Plus was shipping (not from Amazon). I decided to keep the Nautilus Plus, and it has been a very solid performer going into our 5th summer. I have never had a problem with it. Filters are easy enough to clean.

If I were getting a new cleaner now (hope that won't be needed for a while - how long can I expect these things to last?), I probably would get an S200. But I have been very, very happy with my Nautilus Plus.
