We had a red oak fall and crush our 24' Esther Williams pool that had been installed in 1997 (which except for faded paint was in perfect condition). The pool came with the house when we bought it, so now we're entering the land of first time buyers. We live in New York near Lake Ontario, so winters are cold and long with lots of snow. The wife is concerned about a steel pool rusting with being surrounded by moisture for so many months out of the year. That and the general sentiment of "they don't make things like they used to" has us considering the Aurora all resin pool. I've searched and seen several people recently install them. I'm sure most of our headache is having to deal with insurance and the other property damage from the tree, but we'd like to have a one and done install until the kids are out of the house and not have to do this research and deciding process again in a few years. Any suggestions or comments on pools you've had great or terrible experiences with would be very helpful. It will be going back in the same location, with a preexisting deck that goes around about 1/3 of it. We've used liquid chlorine with a sand filter in the past and will probably continue with that method.
