I have owned a pool for 23 years, have been maintaining with chlorine tabs, in-line chlorinator. most years have been pretty good. other years have algae issues. the pool company who put the pool in told us to use the tabs, 1 gallon of shock a week, and a half gallon of liquid algaecide a week. stumbled onto the site, bought a TF-100 kit and have been testing my water most nights. today i went out and there was algae in the corner. we have a solar cover that is on the pool when not swimming.

do most people find that they know how much chlorine to put in nightly? what should i have for a free chlorine level?

here are my numbers:

FC 2.5
CC < .5
TA 110
CYA 30
pH 7.5
Calcium Hardness 300
Temp 88F

any suggestions? the paper that came with the kit said to use the K 1000 every night, have been using the chlorine drop test every night. I have to work 12 hours a day next few days slam would be difficult. Anyone here use algaecide as maintenance?
