Algae prevention

Has anyone ever closed their pool late but still opened a green pool water in spring? Thanks

i was one a few seasons back. The winter was crazy, Err, not crazy at all with many 70+ degree stretches. I was gifted a full blown Shrek swamp. There’s only so much you can do.

But I opened early while the algae was still dormant (for that 2 week span it was cool again ) and it was 36 or so hours to sparkling clear again.

I assume this was our prior owner. She handed us a completely green swamp and acted like it was totally normal. And she even opened the pool early (mid-April) so we could see it before closing.
