Algae Outbreak-

So I was doing well this summer but now I have an outbreak.

My CYA was about 40 at the start of the summer. Here is my issue. For the most of the summer, my CC has been registering 0. Even now with physical evidence of algae, it is still measuring 0. Why is that?

Also, we haven't been in the pool in about 3 weeks and we haven't scrubbed it. However, I have been adding bleach daily. 2 cups. I was testing every other day and the FC was always around 5. Never dropped below 3. Now, I know I did forget to add bleach one day so that day it could have dropped down.

Should I lower my PH? I plan to raise my CYA back up to 40 and SLAM. Thoughts!

Water chemistry: Today
PH: 7.7
FC: 9
CC: 0
TA: 60
CH: 125
CYA: 20

Bring your CYA up to 30 and lower your PH to 7.2. Then follow the SLAM Process process. Step by step. No shortcuts.

I agree w above poster u will see progress fast ur water is pretty good now. U gotta scrub daily and vacuum or robot u gotta get all the hard spots too don't miss I even pop lights out of niches wait til u see what's in there lol

Above Ground Pools have limited circulation due to the skimmer and one return being very close to each other, in addition not having a main drain. Not all pools need main drains, but usually 3 returns and 2 skimmers are sufficient for proper circulation. Personally, I do not believe you allowed your levels to drop below minimums, but the lack of brushing over 3 weeks did the trick. Perform the SLAM and do not take any shortcuts. Once everything is back to normal, which should be very quickly, make sure that brushing is a routine you do weekly. Try twice a week and then if successful, lower to once per week.
