Algae or bug/worm organic stains?

Hi - seeing a lot more light brown spots of staining (a few inches long each, scattered around the pool.
Have in the past only seen this if a worm got in the pool and decomposed leaving a shadow of it's shape.
The spots don't come off even with aggressive wire brushing
I can't tell if I am now getting algae or just more organic staining...
Haven't had algae bloom and haven't needed to shock/slam for years.
Weather has been extreme heat wave, along with heavy use of the pool.

TF-100 test kit:
FC 8.0
CC 0.0
CYA 65
CH 200
TA 110
pH 7.6

Please suggest some definitive way of identifying these stains....

Thanks,
Steve

Your CC says no algae but do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

You put a chlorine puck on the stains for a few minutes?

Yes, I put a triclor puck on a couple of the stains and if anything it made them a little darker....still don't come off scrubbing with wire brush.....

Sounds more like metal staining.

There any work around your house or neighbors that could have caused slivers of metal to fall into your pool?
