Hi, as per the title, i am getting some algae in the flaps at the base of my intex pool. This is despite keeping free chlorine well above the bottom end. I have tested nearly every day and out of all my tests free chlorine hasnt been below 7ppm since i opened. My recommended FC levels are between 4-8ppm and i have been running at 9 most of the time. CYA is 50ppm. CC is usually zero. I have had one reading at 0.5ppm and one reading of 0.2ppm. All other readings in the past 3 weeks have been 0. My guess what is happening is since the last time i brushed, the flaps have closed up on themselves meaning the FC pool water cannot sanitise there thus meaning algae can start growing as the FC there goes down. My question is, is that plausible and if so can anyone recommend a decent brush to get in the flaps? My current brush is a bit awkward to get in the small gaps. Cheers.

It may be dead algae and not new algae, especially if your FC levels have been in range.
I would take the FC up to SLAM level for 2 days just to be sure and continue to try to clean out those folder areas.
You could also do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to completely rule out any growth of new algae.
Cheers mate. It looked like living algae to me. Was bright/vivid green. I was surprised to see it because i have kept the FC at the top end or above that most of the time. Im assuming its because the water cant get to it it. I hadnt brushed in between the folds for about 3 weeks. I just assumed keeping FC as stated would prevent algae growing there but i guess if the chlorine cant get there then algae can still grow despite what FC is in the pool. Ill raise FC to slam level to be safe.
