Algae chunks growing between pool tiles

A SLAM without disrupting the surface is not going to help with BA. It’s also not going to hurt either. At a minimum I would get the FC level up to 20% of CYA.

I just dont think there is much the OP can do without getting into the pool with a snorkel and figuring out a way to disrupt the BA.
It’s certainly not ideal, but I had a bunch of spots of black colored algae and a SLAM without brushing cleared them up quite well. I know the deal with the brushing so not saying it isn’t needed, just that the SLAM can’t be ignored. It may turn out to just be black colored algae and not legit black algae.

Oof, this is a tough one. Normally I would tell you to get in the pool with a pressure washer to blow out the black algae. I just have no idea what a pressure washer will do to your grout. I would be scared to pop out tiles. I also dont know what kind of brush is going to get into the grout enough to scrap out the BA.

I think my best advice is to get into the pool with a bamboo bbq skewer and scrape out what you can. Then get in there with a 1 gallon pump sprayer with the strongest liquid chlorine you can find and blast those spots.
Thanks for the help. The bamboo skewer idea is a big help. I just trialed the idea by duct taping a sharpened chopstick to a pool pole and using it to pop out the algae. It was working quite well until it started raining. I will be off to buy bamboo skewers later this afternoon.

I am on day 2 of slamming and it has cleared up quite a bit, but there are remaining chunks and spots. I did tape a sharpened chopstick to a pole (until I can buy bamboo skewers) and it was working quite well until it started raining and I couldn't see anymore. The plan for now is to keep slamming, use the skewers and get in there with dive gear if I have to. Thanks again for all the ideas. I feel like progress is being made.
