Alerts

I have Alerts set up to notify me if comments are made in threads I am watching. I have noticed that if an extended time passes after I view a specific thread, I won't be notified of new comments on that specific thread. I didn't notice I was missing these comments until I went to the "new posts" and filtered on Watched because I was trying to find info in a particular thread I was watching. Low and behold I saw that numerous watched threads were showing up with comments, but I didn't get any alerts in the upper right bell icon. Does the forum assume I don't care anymore if I don't go visit a thread in a while? Any idea what that time threshold is?

I am finding the same issues. It is a disappointment to get on TFP after being absent for a few days to find no new alerts. It makes you feel like you need to work on your TFP social game. When I click on "threads with your posts", there are several threads with new comments which I am watching but do not get an alert.

I get similar and mine appears totally random. I won't get alerts from some recent threads but will get them on something I replied to months ago, other days vice-versa.

Just this thread itself didn’t give me any alerts. I had to go to watched threads to notice that there were 3 replies. And I’m the OP from less than 24 hours ago. @Leebo , any suggestions?

Have you tried actually engaging the Watch function, not just relying on the fact you posted to the thread?

I primarily use New Posts. If I have been away for awhile, I go to Watched in Forums. If I got Alerted for posts I would have hundreds of Alerts!!

I do use the the watched function . But isn’t the point of an Alert to push to me that a watched thread has additional content? There is a setting section in your account where you can control what is alerted. From none at all to basically everything.
I trying to see if I’m missing something or if there is a bug or something else.

Lee would have to answer on the Alert function. I was just wondering if the actual Watch function worked or not. I do not use it.

I followed the link you posted and it looked like many or all are there. I'd have to compare it to the Watched threads to see if they are ALL there. Let me give it a day or two to see if they diverge.
I will clarify that I first noticed this on my iPhone. I usually click the bell icon to check Alerts to see what has been posted on watched threads. Depending on how much time I have to play on TFP website, I then go to the Watched threads filter and view from there.
The Bell is also a quick visual that you can see no matter what page you are viewing. Obviously you would have to manually go to the Watched Threads filter for that.
