Air sucked in one skimmer - help!

Hello! I noticed air bubbles coming out a return jet, and went over to the filter and pump and noticed air in the pump and the filter pressure going up and down. I went over to check the skimmers and one was very low (see video). I closed the valve from that skimmer and the problem has gone away.

Imgur link to video and photos because my files were too big for here…

A few questions…
1. Is it bad to continue running the pool with only 2/3 valves open? The other skimmer and the bottom drain are open all the way. Filter pressure is staying consistent at a normal 22psi.
2. How do I even go about fixing this? Between the pipe at the bottom of the valve, and the skimmer, the plumbing is entirely underground, and under concrete. Is this a pro job? (My wallet will CRY.)
3. Are there any other things I maybe have missed? It seems like the issue is that skinner based on my quick diagnostic but I’m still new to this.

Also in case my tag line doesn’t say it for whatever reason - 18,000 gallon pool, plaster in ground, not salt, central Texas. Pool was built 2011 ish and those valves replaced in 2020.

Thank you!!
Alex

Looks like either the weir door is stuck or the water is low in the pool. Not a problem running only one skimmer until the problem is resolved.

THANK YOU!! It was the weir door after all. It got loose and was jammed crooked in there. Straightened it out and it works like normal. I’ll add some more water to be on the safe side.

Thank you so much! I am always terrified of major underground repairs.

Pins on the end of the weir door might be worn and a new door is needed. Or the pockets in the skimmer housing the weir door sets in are worn and the weir door is not staying in them. Check to see if the pins on the end of the weir door are staying in the pockets in the skimmer. Also check to see if there are any cracks in the weir door.

Spring-loaded, aftermarket weir was the one with the issue.
