Air leak in system after new pump installation

I recently swapped out my existing single speed Pentair Whisperflow with the VS version. The install was fairly easily and was just a simple swap as all of the other plumbing matched up perfectly. I did replace one union as the other was cracked the other I cleaned off the male end and added fresh thread tape. Now that the new pump is installed I noticed air bubbles coming from my pool return, I never saw this with the previous pump. I have tried to diagnose this as best as I could, I used soap bubbles around all of the fittings didn’t see any getting sucked up around the new pump unions. Also not sure if it’s normal or not but when my pump is on a lower RPM like 1800 I notice the basket filter area has a reduced amount of water compared to normal. It won’t let me attach the video I took but it appears only one return has bubbles coming out of it.

Spots I have tested for suction leaks:
- both pump unions and all diverter fittings
-examined pump lid seal and o-ring which are both fine and no soap bubbles were getting sucked up during operation
-tried running the pump in recirculate to see if it was a filter issue but I still saw the air bubbles out of the return

I have included a picture with the spots I have checked outlined in red. Any help or ideas would be appreciated in trying to figure out ideas where this leak could be.

I assume you don’t have a SWCG.
Check the drain plugs on the pump. Lube the orings. I had to replace them on my pump when new.

That is normal for a VS pump at low speeds.
