Air bubble in Intex pump basket

I know this has been asked before, and reading over the threads it seems some people say its a suction side air leak, and some people say its normal to have a bubble in the top of the basket.

Specifically, with the Intex sand pumps, is this normal or do I need to be checking for leaks?

I did clean and tighten the basket lid, drain plugs, etc. When I open the valve at the top of the basket water start's coming out, but the bubble never goes away. The pump never loses prime, and the water level seems to stay the same.

Thanks!

Mine does this all the time. I can usually start the pump, then unthread the top nut on the basket until most of the air is out, it doesn't seem to ever get all of it, but usually after running the pump for awhile, it goes away. (I run my pump almost 24/7 though so I'm not sure if that makes a difference) However, as long as the pump isn't drawing in air, which it shouldn't be, it won't make a difference to its operation.
