I have a Hayward Variable Speed pump for my ingroud pool. After Hurricane Beryl, it was tripping the GFCI. We called a repair company that replaced the pump motor and control panel. When they went to install it, the pump still tripped. They replaced the GFCI with a regular breaker. The pump has been working for the last 3 weeks without problems. The GFCI breaker is code for a good reason. What should I do next, if anything? 🤔

Welcome to TFP! My first instinct is that there is still moisture trapped somewhere in the circuit. The GFCI's were sensing it. Can you share some pics of your electrical panels, breaker boxes, the equipment pad? Maybe if we can how everything (electric) is tied together it might give us some clues.

The first picture is the pump and (2) the conduit leading to breaker box. There is a another picture of the breakers (as I explained, repair person switched the heater breaker and the pump breaker to make everything work. Pump is working but I am uncomfortable with his solution.

We called a repair company that replaced the pump motor and control panel.

This does not look like a new pump motor.

The motor electrical cover has significant corrosion in it.

Could they have replaced the motor and not the cover? They said they brought it back to their repair facility and replaced the motor and control panel. It is running but on a non GFCI breaker. Should I just try to get as much use as I can and not worry about code or something else 🤔

How much do you worry about the safety of the people in your pool?

I would tell them that a motor that trips the GFCI is unacceptable. If necessary, replace the pump. My bet is a new pump will work fine with your electrical setup and a GFCI. You have the recommended Pentair GFCI for their VS pumps.
