I am replacing my pump and only have a short distance to connect the discharge to existing plumbing. The standard 2 7/8" coupler is going to be a little tight but the half size coupler will work, however that only gives me a 3/4" section of 2" PVC to reach the stop in the coupler. (see pics)

Is that enough for a good union?

TIA

Hi Tx,
if the 2" PVC pipe will fit at least 3/4" into the slip union, it should be OK. Ensure to use proper PVC cleaner on both mating surfcaes, then the PVC cement. Press the slip fit together then a slight turn to set the joint.
