It seems like our spring monsoon season (hope I didn't jinx us) is coming to a close and we've had multiple beautiful, sunny days in a row with "extreme" UV levels here in NE Texas. So we are dealing with a few things I'd love some experienced poolies to help me think through!

1) Can a pool be too full? We are about as full as it can get ... over the tops of the returns for sure so skimmers aren't really working...Not a big deal, that's what kids are for right? But will excess water do any long term damage or will a few days the hot sun and plenty of cannonballs take of the issue?

2) Thoughts on raising CYA levels to combat FC loss due to sunlight? Our current CYA is 50 so I've been trying to keep the FC around 6-8 using Pool Math but readings are around 3 the last few days. So I'm adding around 60-70 oz of liquid chlorine a day. Is this a normal amount or should I boost CYA?

I'd love any further hints or suggestions!

Full readings today with TF100 kit were
CYA 50
FC 3
CC 0
PH 7.5
TA 50

I added 70 oz of 10% liquid chlorine. I know it wouldn't hurt to boost up the PH and TA a bit but PH has been holding steady all week.

Thanks in advance... and pic of the pool yesterday as pavement. Still super clear and beautiful 2 weeks after starting a SLAM and daily thunderstorms thanks to Pool School and y'all here in the forums! 20240606_164622.jpg

50 CYA is good level when using liquid chlorine. Could you raise to 60 - sure. Just don’t switch to pucks where more CYA is added and your find yourself at 70 or 80ppm CYA.
Your TA is fine if your pH is stable. Just don’t go below 50ppm for TA.
It is hot in TX so losing 2-3ppm of FC a day is not uncommon. Just continue to test and continue to add LC as required to stay in range. Your FC of 3ppm appears just on the edge of the low side so keep it mid-range or even on high side of range.
Good Luck and thanks for using TF100 test kit and PM app.
