Adding Stabilizer and Borates to Pool

Get your stabilizer levels sorted out first. TFP never recommends adjusting multiple chemical levels at the same time. You also want your TA to be a bit lower before you add borates as adjusting TA after borates will take more acid.

Is you pH currently stable? Typically people use borates to help buffer against pH rise. Most find that they need to have fairly low TA, around 60ppm, to keep the pH rise rate low. So they will usually lower their TA to that point and then add borates. If your pH is stable at 90ppm TA then I'd suggest lowering it by another 10ppm down to 80ppm and then add borates. Once you add borates, it takes almost twice as much acid to lower pH and TA as it does before the borates were added.
