I have a e series Hayward sand filter it says to add 200 lbs of sand my sand is hafeway up from last year . I can’t remember if the sand supposed to be up 3/4 full? Can anyone tell me. Thanks
You don't say what specific filter you have. Below is an example of what should be in your filter manual. It should tell you the amount of free board depth you need. It varies by filter.
A properly functioning sand filter should lose very little, if any sand during normal operation. If you had added the proper amount of sand last year and nothing unusual happened that caused it to lose a significant amount of sand then you shouldn’t need to add sand now. “Topping off the sand filter” isn’t a normal maintenance item.
