Here’s the full story. Pressure was going up quickly before I took it apart. I am leaving for the weekend in a few hours. I don’t want to leave the water stale for two days. And I’m nervous to let the filter run, maybe there is an algae issue.
Short filter cycles are almost never a mechanical problem and are almost always a chemical problem.
When you get back you need to Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. Contrary to how it seemed, your filter is working GREAT and overloading on not yet visible algae. It's microscopic and needs to be a runaway train for it to be seen.
