Adding Automation to Hayward System

Looking into next season, starting to plan out adding automation system to our pool… keep the dream alive while the weather turns and the pool hibernation/winterization period begins.

Current Equipment:
* Hayward TriStar VSP
* Hayward AquaRite T-15 SWG
* Hayward Color logic LED lights (two)
* Hayward Heatpro Heatpump

We are not interested in automation of valve controls, mainly looking to get Current / Target Temp, Pump RPM/Schedule, validate Chlorinator is working well and setup some automation schedules on the pool lights.

Beyond the pool, we’ve got Homeassistant running for various other purposes and would want to ultimately connect into that system as well.

My rough plan is to replace the mounted control box for the AquaRite with an OmniLogic and then connect the various pieces listed above.

Questions:
* HLBase seems to be the starting point on the OmniLogic, and would need to add a WLAN controller. Any other Hayward parts to complete the installation? - Pros for this are that future owners would have a brand name & “native” automation they can pivot to whatever they want.
- Cons are cost, seems that this would easily be $3,000+ to get connected.

* Rather than OmniLogic is there an alternative I should be looking at?

* Leveraging nodeJS Pool Controller, assuming this would be needed to integrate with homeassistant?

* Is there a “monitor only” solution, as the equipment pad is quite accessible and just getting awareness to the equipment run states and temps would be a nice addition and if possible to do that without spending thousands… it may get greater spousal acceptance factor.

Thanks in advance!

Omnilogic is unnecessary for your pool.

OmniPL is more suitable and has built in wireless networking.

The Omni Hub system may even work for you.
