Not sure if it even matters or why. I've been adding acid to the shallow end of our pool by the spa spillover and return. It's the easiest spot but isn't the deepend of the pool. Does it make a difference? I pour it in slowly then brush the area a little bit for extra mixing.
Most people say to add it to the deep end of the pool but then I see someone say that is also a risk because it will head straight for the main drain. Just more baseless pool guidance?

Add acid in a pencil thin flow (very slowly). Add it in front of a return with the deepest water with the pump running.

The return flow will mix the acid the best.

Brush a bit on the floor after you are done.

Just more baseless pool guidance?
Yes.

Yes.
Is it really critical to add it to the deepest part of the pool? There's a step in the deep end of the pool by the return.

That sounds adequate to get a good mix.

No. Folks add acid to sports pools with 5 foot depths.

As long as you get a good mix of acid into the water it is fine.

What you don’t want is to pour acid into still water and have it settle in a clump to the pool floor.

No, it is critical to add it SLOWLY in front of a return with the pump running to allow good mixing. A quick brush or two on the floor under the return finishes it off.

Hold the bottle real low, or even submerge it a little to greatly reduce splashes.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like I'm fine. Just didn't know for sure what the reasoning was about the deep water reasoning, if it had to do with the slope or what. Too much strange info on pools on the internet.
