Adding a sand filter to pool with skimmer already built in?

The skimmer on this pool is unlike others I've seen which is why I am unsure how to do this. The bottom unscrews and the motor can be taken out. It came with a rubber thing you can put in instead.

Hey so when u hooked your sand filter to this skimmer do u still use the filter that goes inside the skimmer? I just bought a sand filter and I am unsure if I need to keep using the filter inside the skimmer on mine

No, you take the filter out. You may also need to remove the impellor on the pump inside the skimmer/filter if it blocks the water flow. I suggest getting a Hayward skimmer off of Amazon, it will last a lot longer and be easier to maintain.
