Adding a 2nd Skimmer

As part of my pool renovation I decided to add a 2nd skimmer.
The primary skimmer is connected to the pool drain.
The new skimmer location will be on the opposite side of the pool.

My plan is to have both skimmers 'connect' (via Y) about 30' away... with another 15' until the pool pump (so 45' total).
Will this work as I have envisioned (I am a DIY guy...)? and do I need a Jandy valve to control which skimmer(s) are active? I would prefer to have both skimmers always 'on' and not over complicate it with an additional Jandy.
 
Yes, skimmers are often lopped in a pool.

You don't need a Jandy valve as long as you are in an area where you don't winterize the pool.
