Add DE to sand filter

I was told to try adding DE to my filter to help with clearing cloudy water. I have the intex 12x24 agp, sand filter, swg. How and where do I add the DE? I have a skimmer basket that just hangs over the side of my pool. I am deep cleaning the sand today and will have the top off of the sand filter do I just add it to the sand right away?

Also, I took apart the salt cell yesterday and cleaned it, it had some gooky salt stuck on it, but when I put it back together now I am getting code 90 "low flow filter" did I put it back together wrong? the flow is good so unsure why I am getting this code.

I can't answer the SWG question but you add DE to the skimmer, you are looking for the filter to go up 1 PSI with a clean filter. Be aware that your filter may go up in pressure quickly once it has DE in it.

Put some DE in a bucket, add water to the bucket and slowly add it to the skimmer until you get that 1 PSI. Try small amounts until you get that rise in pressure, maybe 1/4 cup at a time.

You may only. need 1/8th to 1/4 of a cup of DE with that small filter. If you are opening the filter to clean the sand, you could just sprinkle the DE on top when ready to close it. If it is too much, and your pressure rises too much, backwash it out.

yeah.. that's just two level tablespoons if that is easier to remember. :)
so the main problem I am having is that the water is soooo cloudy. Happened after the farmer behind me came through and rotatilled all the dirt got in my pool. I have slammed, done everything still cloudy. My sand filter pressure stays right before the red, I backwash at least 2x daily. But I cannot get the pressure lower. My sand was new last summer with the pool. Any other ideas what could be going on or suggestions

How long do you backwash for. If you can get to the water exit immediately after starting the backwash you can see the water color change at the 2" after the end of the hose point. Starts whiter then turns darker for a bit then it'll go back to a whiter frothy color.

At least 2 minutes, but it starts clear and stays clear, i do not get any color change. I can see the bottom stair on my steps, but very very cloudy and cannot see floor tiles at all
