What do you think about this approach? A gallon of liquid per week has been working in the past. Would it be better to continue doing that?

Sure. But be aware of the increasing daily loss between now and mid season. It will steadily climb until then, then slowly decrease for the back half of the season. Adjust the amount added with the amount of loss.
There may always be a whoopsie week out of character for that point in the season, but it mostly follows the pattern.

I forgot to add to my post, I haven’t tested (waiting on reagents) but I think I’m a little low on CYA too, so this would have a double benefit.
However you want to do it, it all works. Watch the CYA when using tabs, add LC worry free. Dose either appropriately for the recent daily loss (a moving target). Use the cell for as much as it'll make.

I'm assuming you're already running your pump (on low speed) 24 hours a day and your salt cell is set to 100%. If not, might be worth trying that first.

Single speed unfortunately. Twelve hours in warm months. Cell at 100.
That's only 1.9 FC per day and you're supplementing alot. Why even have the SWG if it's killing you in electric and bleach ?
I'd buy the Calimar 3HP VS pump for $519. It'll pay for itself in no time with long seasons, then pay for itself a 2nd and maybe 3rd time.
It'll allow you to get twice the cell production and drastically cut the electric bill. My VS pump runs for 24 hours on low speed for the equivalent 2.75 hours on high speed.

That was a rookie mistake on my part with the installer. I didn’t do my research, so I wasn’t aware of the VS option. That one’s on me.

Don't you dare. It's on them. Yessir. PBs were either too set in their ways to appreciate the modern improvements, or they had old stock to unload once SS pumps were being twilighted.
It's totally on them. My PB told me all about VS pumps as he sold me one in 2012.
If it's 220v then you're good to go.

Also remember that tabs are acidic & will lower ph & subsequently ta.
This must be monitored closely.
I too have had undersized swcg’s and was “gifted” a large bucket o tabs. So I thought why not
I considered my tab use very modest just to supplement my cell & cya in the heat of summer. 1 at a time in a floater.
The ph & ta in my vinyl pool is very steady & pretty much never changes. Generally Ph 7.6 & ta 60.
Well, a few tabs changed all that and I found myself adding baking soda for the first time in 8 years! It really snuck up on me!
It’s not a crime to use them - just be careful to monitor things. Also be sure they are plain 99% Trichlor (no xtra stuff).
Running your cell @100% for 24 hours should provide around 3.8ppm fc per day.
You may still need to supplement in the dog days of summer but otherwise in the rest of the seasons the cell can probably hold its own - you’ll just need to run it more than you are now. When it bites the dust get a 60k gal rated system.
I hate when builders that only sell jandy stuff build huge pools with swcgs since they don’t sell swcgs large enough to accommodate them.
It gums up the whole works especially if you wish to have automation & need/want everything to match/talk. In the end you’re either stuck with undersized equipment or mitchmatched equipment after paying a premium initially. I also really can’t believe that you got stuck with a single speed pump! Oh well, Life is filled with lessons, like don’t blindly trust that a pb has your interest at heart. Sorry you got the short end of the stick
