Acid wash?

Renovated our finite pool just over 1 year ago. First pool we’ve owned,

Early on we noticed a grey stain on the bottom of the pool starting in the shallow end and into the deep end. The pool guys had no explanation nor could treat the stain.

My wife found a picture of the pool freshly plastered where the stain is evident (see pics). We shared it with our contractor.

Long story short, the plasterer is returning tomorrow to drain the pool. Once dry, he plans to do an acid wash.

I’ve read about them online and have concerns. I don’t want to change the color , texture or shorten the life of my pool to remove the stain.

Can anyone share their experiences with empty pool acid washing?

The acid wash removes a thin layer of plaster and shorten its life.
