You might could do a small fiberglass repair kit over the "slits"... I think you would need just a little something for protection against the liner--just in case someone brushed up against it or either pushed off with their feet on the wall.

Gorilla Tape should work,patch the outside&repaint..New Liner&you will have it looking new again...May want to consider after taping .Put wall foam up..Will be a nice pool area when you get it all together..Good Luck&enjoy..
