Above ground low maintenance pool issues !

Hello Pv2, I want to take the reducer off because it's a REDUCER ...
When I think of upgrading the inlet/outlet I think of making the two holes bigger and not smaller, so that I can have a better water circulation in my pool, it's just physics :).
The Strainer assembly that came with the sand filter despite the bigger overall dimensions has got a smaller passage for the water.
From my point of view if I'd use the strainer assembly you see in the above picture I will get a downgrade .
Plese correct me if I'm wrong !!!

Can you guys tell me what the internal diameter is for a true 1 1/5" large strainer assembly ?

You have a 1200 gph pump correct? FWIW my 1000 gph pump circulates better with 3/4 inch opening than it does with 1 inch. The water exit velocity is higher even if the total flow is theoretically lower (which is not noticeable). I don't think one can say for sure which is better since it would depend on the pool.

Hello Poolz thanks for replying
This is the set-up I've tried : solar mat lying on the grass, intex 330 gph cartridge pump (with no cartridge inside for better water flow), 30 feet of 1.25 inch ridged hose, 3 feet of difference in height between the pump and the upper edge of the pool . . . This set-up DOES NOT WORK, in the sense that I don't get a single drop of water at the exit ...

Uhmmmmmm ..... ........ About this statement I don't know what to say, I'm not an hydraulic engineer !!!!

I see, you were going over the wall of the pool which was basically 3 feet high plus 30 feet of flex hose? If so your result isn't surprising. The pump has very limited head capability. They won't self prime either. If you could prime the whole system it might work. I don't know how restrictive the Intex mats are however.
