have a 15 by 30 oval above ground and when a storm comes through or very high windy days the pool gets a lot of needles in it and at times has filled the skimmer up to the point it was clogged up. Any ideas on a easy type cover that could be layed across the pool or some type of extra way to catch the needles before they go into the skimmer but the skimmer still be able to create the suction needed. Thanks

Skimmer sock. I use one of these a day or every other day for that and leaves and June bugs/beetles.

Skimmer socks work, but are a pain to clean.
Many of us use these and just dispose of them when they get dirty.

thanks but needles get so bad the skimmer will clog up in about 20 minutes, trying to figure out how to keep a simple cover on until ready to use the pool or catch the needles before they enter the skimmer but the skimmer still be able to work for the pool water circulation. Thanks for the reply.

Like the idea of what is in the attached picture, just not sure what to use as the fabric that would not be small enough to catch the needles but not block the suction. Thought about a leaf type cover but 15 by 30 just seems like it may be difficult to install and remove by yourself.
