Do you have a specific wind pattern or direction as it comes to/around the house? That might play in to your decision. The current from the wind along with the movement of water from the pump returns help keep the surface of the water clean.
Thank you for the reply! How/where do I find the wind pattern? Does movement of the water pump matter even if I don't have in-floor cleaning? If so, is it just where the water would return to from the pump?
Well, having lived in our house we knew which direction most wind normally comes. And our water returns are placed so that water circulation moves towards the skimmer. Some folks have more than one skimmer, so that's always an option too.
I can't comment about how the in floor cleaning matters as I don't have that, and wonder if it matters since they're under the surface and the skimmer action cleans the surface?
