Aargh... Thought I had algae!

Grrr... The resident bullfrog seems to be leaving a calling card. Catching him is next to impossible though granddaughter thinks I'm more than capable. Thinking I'll maintain upper limit of chorine for CYA level until I banish the amphibious intruder.

You can't SLAM a frog. I mean. You can. But he won't care.

Catching him is easier said than done, and then taking a good drive to relocate him somewhere else that's wet will fix that problem.

Then you meet his sister. Then his cousins. Then the college roommate comes for a visit.

I tried to catch pool frogs years ago before realizing the utter futility of it. Frogs are at the top of the "pool chain".

Don't even bother trying to catch him by hand. Get your deep net and use that. Make sure your pole is good enough to hold his weight!

Believe it or not, my 6 year old granddaughter, who is just learning to swim, showed up at the front door with the frog in her hands! Unfortunately, while I went rushing to find a pail with some sort of lid to put him in, froggy escaped. Husband said little girl's swimming improved dramatically in her hour long quest to catch Mr Froggy. She's turning into a regular little fish. Couldn't swim at all when we opened the pool.

Don't I know it. Just not used to seeing frog poop. Only rule I have is they stay out of the skimmer line (I accidentally vacuumed one up years ago. A good sized one at that. Fished him out of the pump basket and off he went.

I just don't like it when I can't get them out before shocking and they die

The tree frogs come for my pool at night. SLAM or no SLAM, they'll be in there. Shock level chlorine doesn't seem to faze them.

Maybe think of the frog as a free swim instructor. Give him a nice kids pool of fresh water to hang out in and drop him in the pool when the grandkids come over. Maybe catch some bugs and drown them in the kiddie pool for the frog to munch on while he’s hanging out waiting for your grandkid to come over.

I wasn't thinking running higher chlorine levels at SLAM, just the upper range of recommended for CYA level. And not to kill the frogs - just any salmonella they might carry.

And plenty of bugs for them to feed on. Looks like Japanese beetles are beginning... Not to mention the horse flies

It's a literal drop in the 28k gallon 'bucket'..

That said, I run hot to be pre-covered for the next event I was unaware of, be it frogs, an impromptu afternoon get together, a particularly high UV loss day, a big storm, Meh, it's covered. I'm lazy like that.

I’m in a similar geography. Bull frogs, chipmunks, squirrels, all kinds of weird beetles, and an occasional cat walking through. Even have a peacock that tries to seemingly commit suicide by car when I try driving down the street.
