AA and adding chlorine

My pool was a mess that I unknowingly created before I read on this site. I done a AA treatment then drained half the pool, refilled, and beginning to get my cya and chlorine levels back to normal. My PH, Alk, & salt look decent now, but pool is currently very cloudy. My main question is should I use the SWG to bring it back up, or use LC to bring it up then turn on the SWG? I have added purple stuff and poly 60. Any other suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Use liquid chlorine to get the FC up quickly.

Use the FC/CYA Levels to dose FC based on your CYA level.

I would recommend monitoring your FC level at least every 2 hours, and adding enough liquid chlorine to keep it at the minimum (or slightly higher) level required for your CYA if you can, but don't overshoot and go too high because if you do, you may end up ruining all the work of your AA treatment you did. You're in a tough spot because you're cloudy already , so it's a balancing act. Your AA treatment will neutralize the chlorine added, and the chlorine will also neutralize the AA as well, until the AA is all gone...

Was your pool cloudy BEFORE the AA treatment, or only since then?

How much Polyquat-60 did you add it and when did you add it?

How are you testing? Using test strips, pool store, or a -real test kit like the TF PRO or Taylor ?

Thank you for the responses. I received my TF-Pro this week so I’m testing regularly now. I have my pool clear now, but my steps keep turning back toward brown. I am using J’s purple stuff, and have used several bottles so far. My SWG is now working again and ran my FC up higher than I expected. My CYA is still too low so I’ve got to get it up.
I’ve listed my readings below and attached a pic of the store readings to compare. All is well except the staining on the steps keeps returning so I need to resolve that part. Pool store said add more shock. I added 2 lbs of shock two days ago.

Should I shock it? I plan to add some CYA today.

FC reading was 2.5 tonight so I may have been reading the residual effects from the shock in the numbers above from yesterday. Trying to get the CYA up now, but still battling the staining.
