A sad day at our house-bye bye pool :(

Anyone here with developer skills? We will need a “Kimkats tracker app” so we can get updates on where Kim is in her travels, sort of like the Santa apps that spring up at Christmas time.
That would be a snap to setup. The hard part would be getting her to carry her cell phone along the way.😂😂😉

So if you are following Rt. 66, you will be way north of us when you get to Arizona. So we are safe! :) Just a friendly reminder: It's cold in the winter up there! Late Spring or Early Fall for the AZ 66 trip.

My wife actually has the AZ Route 66 plate on her car. I have an Amateur Radio plate on mine. She opted to not get a ham plate for the first time in several years when we moved here.

Uh, last time she reported, she didn't even have a phone that could run an app!! So now what? She'll have to report in at each of her TFP pool stops, where she can log in on her host's computer!! Or carrier pigeon, that might be techie enough for her! ;)

No smartphone? Is she the TFP version of Jack Reacher? Anyhow, she could check in from our place, we are about 1 mile off Rt. 66 here in NM. A little cold right now however, we are seeing more snow than 70's.

Someone just emptied a whole mag on Ogden at Avers (Ogden is Route 66)

Being that I grew up in Elk Grove Village, IL.. I am quite sad about the entire situation with Chicagoland now. I'd avoid going into the city at all save maybe the far north side.. but personally I'd even avoid that. If it weren't for my stubborn mother, I'd have no reason to go back to Illinois at all pretty soon. But yeah.. stay safe if you do the Rt. 66 stuff.. there are a couple of questionable areas in NM and CA too...okay during the day... but....

Woke up to a mess this morning. It took me a second or two to figure out what had happened as it was still dark out when I went out back.

Note the post is no longer sitting on it's support. This is where it let go and all of the water went that a way.

This is the seam in the wall that gave way.

OH MY GOODNES!!! Look at that rust! Now some back story on this pic. We replaced the liner last summer due to the old one being faded and such. There was some rust on the side of the wall. We spent quite a bit to time wire brushing and anti-rust painting the spots that needed it. If you look towards the top of the wall you can see where we did some of the work. This mess on the bottom was not there before :(

Look at the top, right of this pic. That is a cast iron statue! This is what happens when 26,500 gallons of water runs free!

We are going to leave the liner down to help keep the sand base safe from rain and critters

Lesson to us all............when you take your old liner out/down and you see any rust do a full stop if possible and replace the wall at the same time so this does not happen to you. Not sure when we will be able to replace this pool. Going to have to look long and hard at the walls of the next one. The sad thing is we did take our time and did not buy the cheapest pool out there as we did not want this to happen.

I have a big sad for ME today!!!!
Noooooo!! I’m so sorry!
