I've been a member of TFP for about a year and have come a long way in my pool knowledge and caring for my own pool. Thank you TFP for that.
I have noticed something about the TFP "Experts" and "Guides" and those that so graciously answer my questions......They all push SWCGs and they almost seem to actually recruit other members to the "saltwater way of life".

This morning, like every morning during pool season, I'm going to run my Saturday morning errands which include after taking the trash to the dump I got to my local Rural King and buy a case of LC which is now on sale for $14.99 (4 1gal jugs). I enjoy buying the LC, "lugging" it to my truck and I enjoy adding it to my pool every day it's uncovered. I enjoy "tinkering" with my pool which includes adding the LC then a little later testing my water to see if I hit my LC mark before putting pool to bed until next time I uncover it (auto cover).

I'm by no means against SWCG but feel no need to join your cult :p.

So, are there any other proud Jug luggers out there? Please, do not be ashamed to admit it!

There were mostly jug luggers here (myself included) before the economical scales tipped in favor of swcg’s.
Since this forum is based on affordably and easily caring for your pool they have simply naturally climbed to the top of the recommendation list instead of being nice to have luxury. We still love both forms of daily chlorination so lug away! We’re proud of you either way - even if you haven’t joined our cult…. yet… 🤣

🙋‍♂️

*found the retired guy who needs a hobby* :laughblue:

And I will one day too. But Wednesday was a crazy busy day, Thursday was a Nor'Easter with sustained sideways rain and Friday was a cannonball run day to move my daughter between apartments at her college 6 hours away. This morning was the first time I thought of the pool since Tuesday, and due to the crummy weather lately, my FC was 14 with zero effort on my part.

I love tinkering with the pool when I'm not too busy, but when I'm too busy, the not lifting a finger and having the clearest pool in the county is priceless. Its also a steep savings with a 30k+ gallon pool. A jug of 10% is 2.9 FC.

However. We love the sanitary, TFP clear pools no matter how the FC was added. So you do you.

...In Sacramento, pool chlorine is around $10.00 a gallon... so there is that...
...Back to my SWG. Like you, I love the chemistry of my pool. I cannot wait to get my winter bleached hands on my Taylor Test Set and my TFP Pool Math app.
...When my numbers are dialed in, I add the final ingredient to my 14,000 gallon cocktail: 20 Mule Team Borax. Then I re adjust the Ph with muriatic acid. I won't go into more detail and steal TFP's thunder, since I got the life changing idea from them.
...This year will be a sad repeat of last year.
Once the tweaking of the chems, the SWG, the Borax, the fun is over. I only no reason to take the fam pool shopping after lunch, cuz I don't need anything! (Does beer, etc. count as a pool chemical?)
...Sadly, after all is done I run all year on less than two gallons of 24%'ish acid. That is it. No more chlorine (no new trunk carpets), acid added once a month @ ~ 1/4 gallon.
...All I do now is buy pool toys and try to keep my mouth shut when Leslie's is loading up innocent victims with chlorine. Yes. Crates and crates of chlorine and other magic chemicals that cause their daughters to grow hair on their chests, not ours!
Footnote:
Any left over 20 Mule Team helps your dish washing detergent be more effective.

I used LC at my previous pool. After having a SWCG in my current pool, I would never go back. SWCG saves so much time, effort, and money. I can leave for a 3 week vacation and come back to a pool that's almost perfect.
