A little disappointed with the Betta SE Plus

After first being very impressed, I was starting to have doubts about the Betta SE Plus. It would only go forward a foot or so and then stall and back up. Kinda sat in one place. I also noticed that debris was leaking out. I never saw it happen, even when I reversed it at high speed with the remote, but when I went to empty the basket, there was less debris than when I had originally checked. Turns out, I think the issue was low power due to a couple of cloudy days. I plugged it in and it took 5 hours to reach full charge. It’s been humming along ever since, including overnight with green lights still on this morning before sunrise. I hope that was the issue. I also cut down a noodle and placed them in the skimmer openings and that seems to be preventing the unit from getting stuck. I’m not thrilled with the look of noodles in my skimmers, though. But getting up to a perfectly clean pool surface sure is nice!

Opened my Betta this morning and was greeted by a small snake - saved by the Betta! He was curled up in a small rectangular notch where the lid closes. At least I didn’t find him dead in the skimmer.

I purchased the se plus last July, do we know what models are affected?

Doing research prior I recall a thread here and from their site about the weight. I just put a small rock on the front which doesn’t weigh much.

I used it for a few months last year and stored it away. I finally took it out this weekend and tried putting it in the pool but it wouldn’t charge from solar.

I took it out and did a battery charge and put it back in the pool and when I woke up it was dead. With the sun out it wouldn’t charge.

When I messed with the lid the lights would go green. A few minutes later it will die.

I contacted betta who suggested taking it out the pool and leaving it in direct sunlight while powered on for 24 hours.

I had a small piece of cardboard on the front with the rock on and I took it off and it’s been working fine without letting it solar charge on its own.

With the rock off I had an instance where the debris came out.

There was a deal for the aiper surfer s2 pool skimmer which I had my mom order for her pool. I’m going to test it out when it comes in to see how it performs.

On a side note, I didnt know the betta comes with a remote, I don’t recall receiving one. Anyone else didn’t get one?
