is worth two in the skimmer  And a baby packrat too....gonna be some good BBQ tonight!!!

Good thing I had the hairnet in there to catch them. Would hate to have those guys sucked into the filter :ROFLMAO:

Oh, and there’s a dead centipede in the shallow end but I’ll let Mr. T handle that.

I have actually witnessed the birds crash into the pool so I’m not surprised. In the morning the water is a still flat sheet of “glass” and it perfectly reflects the sky. I’ve seen them crash into the water full speed because they get disoriented by it (happens with my glass windows too which I why I never wash them and leave them dirty...I’m protecting the wildlife!!).

So yeah, I blame TFP for those poor animals’ demise ? ? ?

For the first time, I have my own "Critter Counter" that I'm keeping track of everything that met its demise in our pool this season. I'll post it later in the year. But I'm up to a rabbit and a couple birds as well.

Maybe @Leebo should add a tracking feature to the PoolMath App for that

The original formula for calculating the value of a bird in the hand vs one in the bush is e√π÷3 x k where k is the bird specific factor.

You can look up k in the bird value tables or use an online calculator.

When comparing the value of different types of birds, you have to factor in the relative value of one type of bird vs another.

You also have to factor in the condition of the birds and any special skills they have.

A healthy bird that can hunt on command or speak several languages is worth more than a sickly or dead bird that's really dumb.

I do not recall ever getting a bird, guess my pool is not up to TFP standards :p

I get plenty of lizards and mice. Only scorpions I find are in the pool too, but rarely. I think we had a king snake in the skimmer that was still alive.

At dusk we get bats that fly over the pool catching bugs and drinking water.

This thread makes me happy I have a motorized auto-cover.

Although one time I did find a live rattlesnake on the ledge by the cover vault. He must have slipped in through the narrow gap in the cover at the shallow end, avoided the skimmers, and swam the length of my pool until he found a solid place to rest. I was swimming in the deep end when I spotted him.

Side note. FIL got trapped in the bed of his pickup by a rattlesnake today.

Threw a pipe at it which made it angry. Managed to climb inside the truck and ran it over 100 times. :laughblue:

So far this season I've only liberated about a handful of frogs. But if my wife or kids saw some of the critters I pull out of there on occasion throughout the season, they'd probably never get in. My little secret. ?
